Breakfast, It was just ok, but typically European
Disappointed our TV did not work, and took several days for this to be resolved. But it did not affect our stay.

Air con in room useless. Large wardrobe but not enough drawers. Shower cubicle filthy. Not worth the money.

Clean Decent sized room & comfortable bed Great view from balcony Good location as long as one is fit or iif not, willing to use a taxi for a short journey from the as it is up a steep hill but very convenient for getting down to plentiful restaurants, fairly close by.
Lighting is poor & a ridiculous arrangement for turning on the lights. No heating or it wasn't working on the ventilation system ( but it did not affect us particularly. No facility for tea & coffee. Breakfast was plentiful but hot items cool.

Great hotel in a great location
Breakfast was good with a good selection of things to choose from and the layout was well organised. Most of the time there were alternative milks available, also gluten free bread. The location was excellent, a short walk from the promenade and numerous restaurants. This is important as Funchal is located on a steep hill, we wouldn't have wanted to be any further up that hill. Staff were excellent and helpful, an especial mention for Dario on reception, Maria in the dining hall and Rui the bartender. Rui was very friendly and went out of his way to provide us with a good service at the bar. We were grateful that our room was upgraded to a suite.
The curtains in our room could have done with being replaced, they looked old and a bit tatty. The weird electrics in rooms 203 and 411 really need updating. Some of the lights had switches on the wall but some did not, we were given a remote control to operate them which was very complicated to use as the symbols didn't appear to correspond with what was expected. I ended up drawing a little diagram to help me. Being gluten free I felt a bit left out at breakfast. Although there was G/F bread there were no G/F cakes.
